About the project

Pumptracks are a relatively new concept that is spreading across the world like wildfire, and if there is one thing that characterizes it, it is its popularity. Gislöv Sports Club's project ”Sustainable Success” part Pumptrack involves the construction of a so-called asphalt pump track, which is shaped with smaller and sloping curves where one ”pumps” forward on the track with the help of an up and down movement. With a pump track, people meet across generational boundaries and have fun on the asphalt track with bicycles, balance bikes, inline skates, wheelchairs, skateboards, and kick-bikes, etc. Gislöv Sports Club wants to create opportunities that stimulate outdoor physical activity (which has been shown to be of extra importance during the pandemic), social development, and spontaneous sports where children and young people, regardless of skill level, can train coordination, balance, technique, and endurance. The pump track is intended to serve as a natural meeting place. The project also aims to strengthen tourism and the visitor industry, businesses, community life, Söderslätt's brand, and attractiveness for those who live and work in the area.

By further broadening our operations, we expect to reach new target groups and stimulate young people to be physically active longer into their years. This, combined with the positive environment at the sports facility, among other things through a large adult presence that provides children and young people with a good social platform. The pump track, like other development projects, is located on our own land but will still be as accessible as possible for everyone – that is, also for local residents, friends, visitors, and tourists, which hopefully leads to a strengthened identity and increased immigration. The project aims to strengthen tourism and the visitor industry as well as Söderslätt's brand and attractiveness.

In addition to cycling having positive effects on public health, it also has a significant impact on tourism and the visitor industry as well as local and regional development. The demand for nature tourism products and cycling tourism products is increasing every year among visitors. With a pump track, Söderslätt and its surroundings can offer an innovative product that attracts visitors. The visitors can in turn generate revenue for the visitor industry and local trade. With a pump track, we want to help create a sustainable and attractive destination for residents, visitors, businesses, and investments.
