Strategy

The operation is conducted by the independent, non-profit association Leader Söderslätt LLU. The association is open for membership for legal entities and entrepreneurs active in the area. The LAG constitutes the board of the association, proposed by the nomination committee and appointed by the general meeting.

The purpose of the association is to with locally led development through the leader method conduct public benefit activities in accordance with the local development strategy 2023-2027 for the leader area Söderslätt. Leader Söderslätt LLU has a staffed leader office that among other things offers process support to ensure the quality of project plans, make payment applications, and report final results. We are also happy to inform about the opportunities available within locally led development through the leader method.

Söderslätt's development strategy aims to promote innovation, learning, and collaboration to create sustainable growth. The strategy seeks to encourage all people in villages, towns, and rural areas to engage in developing the countryside. Inclusion is a success factor, with a special focus directed towards the youth, addressed through a dedicated intervention area. The special assets of the southern Skåne area in terms of fertile soil, rolling landscapes, coastal stretches, and cultural environments are utilized to increase the number of jobs and attract more visitors to experience what the area offers.

Agenda 2030 forms the basis for the strategy. The overarching goals for the program period are Strengthened identity, Söderslätt's natural values are utilized and cared for, Increased inclusion & collaboration, and Sustainable growth & innovation.

To achieve the goals, five intervention areas have been selected, based on the needs and conditions identified for Söderslätt;

1. Innovation, learning, and collaboration,
2. Youth engagement and well-being,
3. Sustainable nature including water and future agriculture,
4. Attractive destinations
5. Circular economy and sharing economy.

To achieve the greatest effect, Leader Söderslätt will support initiatives that have the potential to bring about structural change in the long term, according to a so-called effect logic. Collaboration between different sectors is necessary for initiatives to continue as long-term operations after funding from Leader has ended.

For the implementation of the strategy, the board has a key role, together with the secretariat. Follow-up is conducted regularly with the aim of evaluating working methods and learning and improving operations for the best effect.
