About the project

Green Future aims to increase interest and knowledge in small-scale cultivation. Sweden needs more growers, more conscious consumers, increased interest and knowledge about food production. The situation is more important than ever to develop an ecological food production in Sweden to secure our
long-term food supply and reduce climate impact. Botildenborg operates a farm in Malmö at the edge of Rosengård. Here, the organization grows over 6 tons of food each year and trains professional urban growers.

The goal of the project application Green Future is to innovatively broaden knowledge, inspiration, and engagement to a larger target group. It is about both developing best practices for several different types of cultivation with a focus on indoor cultivation and conducting training and inspiring events focusing on teachers but also youth and the general public. Within the project, several larger events and conferences are held to spread knowledge and interest. The purpose of the application is to contribute to increased interest and more future growers but also to develop an innovative destination where courses and experiences related to food and cultivation can become an attraction. All of Malmö and surrounding areas can come to Botildenborg to gain practical knowledge about sustainability.

In the initiatives and activities that Botildenborg already operates, and considering the geographical location at Rosengård, we also see that the project connects people from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and ages. We need to work from a sustainable perspective at all levels and in all contexts. The project Green Future is a way to create practical solutions for ecological sustainability that is vital for all of us.
