The countdown to Sustainable Gastronomy Week (SGW) 2026 has begun!

Celebrate our food heritage – with gastronomy as a tool for innovative and sustainable change!

From June 11-16, Malmö Food Council invites with partners to a multitude of industry-focused and public activities. Come and celebrate sustainable gastronomy and take part in knowledge-intensive and food-related events!

We bring together private and public food actors, local producers, educators, and the public and show how local collaboration, international trends, and research perspectives elevate gastronomy as a tool for a sustainable and innovative transformation of our food system.

In the program, you will find among other things:

  • film screening, discussions, and networking event with Foodtech Innovation Network
  • seaweed culture at Sibbarps cold bathhouse with Tång Tång and Tuvessonskan
  • food lab, collaboration meeting, and market at Smygehuk Lighthouse Hostel
  • cooking workshop on how Swedish-grown nuts can be an obvious part of the food landscape and gastronomic preparedness
  • the semifinal for A goal for Malmö – where the city's residents compete to create Malmö's new signature dish!
  • Malmö Food Council and Circular Gastronomy also offers a knowledge-intensive full day where we explore circularity and planetary gastronomy for both the future and the present

The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization has declared June 18 as Sustainable Gastronomy Day (we're flexing the date to June 15 due to Midsummer!). Malmö and Söderslätt take their place on the global sustainability map as Malmö Food Council celebrates Sustainable Gastronomy Week (SGW) for the second time – a week filled with inspiration, innovation, and the food of the future. SGW is part of a global initiative from the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and co-financed by Leader Söderslätt and the European Union and supported by Malmö City.

Come and celebrate sustainable gastronomy with us!
